Research on the influence of changing the diameter of the midsection diameter and the length of a planing corrected aviation bom on its maximum aerodynamic quality while conserving the internal volume

Abstract

The article presents the results of scientific research on determining the influence of changes in the diameter of the midsection and length of a gliding corrected aviation bomb on the value of the maximum aerodynamic quality while maintaining its internal volume. The change in the values of aerodynamic coefficients is determined, namely: derivative of the lift coefficient with respect to the angle of attack, the drag coefficient at zero lift and the maximum aerodynamic quality. Calculations were carried out for four research options with a decrease in the diameter of the midsection from 0.459 m to 0.403 m while simultaneously increasing the length of the gliding corrected aviation bomb from 3.93 m to 5.1 m, respectively. The change in the values of the given aerodynamic coefficients was studied in the speed range from M=0.3 to Mkr=0.66. It was determined that for Option 4 (Lф = 5.1 m, Dmid = 0.403 m) the main evaluation criterion — maximum aerodynamic quality has the largest values. The increase in the value of the maximum aerodynamic quality for Option 4 is within 2.46 2.91% relative to Option 1 (Lф = 3.93, Dmid = 0.459) and changes slightly in the studied range of flight speeds. The proposed approach, when carrying out work on determining the aerodynamic layout and preliminary assessment of its possible characteristics, will allow increasing the gliding range of the gliding corrected aviation bomb within 2.8—3.1 km relative to Option 1 when dropping the PCAB from a carrier aircraft from a height of H=10 km while maintaining its internal volume.
