Policy on the use of artificial intelligence in scientific articles

  1. General provisions

The editorial board of the Collection of Scientific Papers of the State Research Institute of Aviation recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) and the tools that use it can be useful aids in the process of preparing scientific articles. However, the use of such technologies should be carried out in compliance with the principles of academic integrity, scientific responsibility and transparency.

This policy is developed taking into account the recommendations of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and leading scientific publishers. The editorial board strives to maintain a balance between innovation and academic integrity, ensuring transparency and trust in scientific articles.

  1. Permissible areas of application of AI

Authors may use AI technologies in the process of manuscript preparation only as an auxiliary tool, in particular for:

  • searching for literature and analytical materials (with subsequent verification of sources);
  • improving the style of presentation and linguistic literacy of the text;
  • creating illustrative materials (schemes, diagrams, visualizations), if their use does not distort the scientific content;
  • assisting in translating or editing the text;
  • preparing technical elements of the manuscript (spell check, formatting).
  1. Inadmissible areas of application of AI

The use of AI is strictly prohibited in cases where it may call into question the originality, reliability, or scientific integrity of the work, including:

  • generation of scientific content (statement of theoretical propositions, description of methodology, formulation of conclusions, interpretation of results) that the authors have not checked and confirmed;
  • automatic creation of references or bibliographies, which may lead to fictitious or incorrect sources;
  • masking plagiarism by paraphrasing or automated rewriting of other people's texts;
  • use of AI as a co-author of an article - artificial intelligence systems cannot be recognized as authors or co-responsible for scientific results.

  1. Disclosure requirements

Authors are required to clearly state in a special note which AI tools were used and for what purpose.

The text of the special note should be objective (for example: “During the preparation of the article, the authors used the Grammarly tool to check the language style” or “The MATLAB system with elements of AI analytics was used to create graphs”).

Concealing the facts of the use of AI is considered a violation of the principles of academic integrity.

  1. Responsibility of authors

The authors bear sole responsibility for the content of the article, the reliability of the results, and the correctness of the interpretations.

The use of AI does not exempt authors from the obligation to ensure scientific novelty, accuracy, and compliance with ethical standards.

In the event of violations of the policy on the use of AI, the editorial board has the right to demand corrections, reject or withdraw the article.
